Fundraising for your school, club, class or team

Who may sell ads on Student Central for fundraising?

Every club, class and team may sell ads that will appear on every page of their school on Student Central. Or, the school may choose to use Student Central as a school level fundraising platform.

Do the proceeds from fundraising by a club, class or team go solely to the club, class or team, or do some funds go to the school?

An advertiser that purchases an ad from a club, class or team may request that the fundraising proceeds go to that club or team. However, each school's fundraising policy will govern the management of the fundraising proceeds. A monthly report is provided to each school showing new ads and requested allocation to clubs and teams.

How much do the ads costs?

The basic directory listing sold by the school for fundraising is available at the discounted price of $90 per year (one-half of the regular price) and the school (club, class or team) receives the entire $90. There are other ads described below with the school having the opportunity to double its proceeds to $100 per ad per year. There is more detail below.

How are the ads created?

The ad creation process is on-line and is designed to be quick and simple so that the advertiser, or a school official and/or student, may create the ads. Just click on Sponsorship Opportunities at the bottom of each page on StudentCentral.bigteams.com.

Who designs the ads?

All of the ads use standardized formats with custom descriptions and information added by each advertiser. The only art work is the advertiser's logo. We do not accept logo's containing movements such as flashing, wiggling or similar, all logo placements need to remain static. Newly created ads and recently updated ads will be highlighted.

What format and size logo is needed?

The standard logo is 120 X 60 and the featured logo is 300 X 250 – both are standard IAB sizes. The Student Central software will adjust logos that are not in these sizes. We do not accept logo's containing movements such as flashing, wiggling or similar, all logo placements need to remain static. Formats accepted are JPEG, GIF and PNG.

What if I don't have a logo?

Student Central will create a JPEG using a stylized version of your business's name for you at no charge. Or, you may choose the standard directory listing which does not include a logo.

What if the process is not quick and simple for me?

The Student Central support center is available to assist, or even create the entire ad.

How do I pay for the ad?

Once the ad is completed, you may pay with any major credit card. Some of the ad types even allow for monthly payments to be charged to your credit card.

When does the school receive its share of the fundraising proceeds?

Proceeds are remitted monthly to each school along with a report that lists every new ad and requested allocation of proceeds to clubs or teams. Even if the advertiser chooses to pay monthly, the school receives all of its proceeds in the first month.

What is the approval process for a fundraising ad?

Once the ad is complete, Student Central will review the entire ad – read all of the text, inspect the logo, test every link for functionality and destination. After Student Central has approved the ad, the school will be notified that a new ad has been approved and is viewable. Each school may choose to approve ads before they are viewable on that school's pages on StudentCentral.bigteams.com.

Advertising

Who may advertise on Student Central?

Local, regional and national businesses are encouraged to support schools by advertising on StudentCentral.bigteams.com. Most advertisers will be the businesses located in the same community as the school and are businesses familiar to the students, families and teachers in the schools. Becoming a sponsor is a great way to increase awareness of your business, while supporting the local schools and their student activities programs. Businesses have the option to advertise with individual schools; or with multiple schools by specifying zip codes, school districts, cities or states.

Are there categories of advertisements that are excluded on Student Central?

Yes, NO advertisements promoting alcohol, tobacco, political candidates, private secondary schools, individual churches, firearms, family planning, individual items, classified type ads and "R" rated movies will be accepted by Student Central. Other categories may be excluded in the future, and Student Central and/or the school reserves the right to exclude or remove any advertiser or ad at anytime without cause.

Are there different types of ads?

There are four types of ads.

  1. Directory Listing: This basic listing by business category features your business name, a message from your business or a description of your business plus contact information.
  2. School Supporter: In addition to the Directory Listing, your logo is viewable on the right side of your selected school's pages together with a link to any web destination you choose. Your logo will rotate into view into the six positions in the same frequency as the other logos and in locations within those six positions on a random basis.
  3. Community Supporter: This ad type includes both the School Supporter benefits and the addition of having your logo featured in a larger size directly above the School Supporters. Community Supporters rotate upon every new page view
  4. Community Leader: Community Leader ads are not only displayed in the Community Supporters spot, logo positions and the directory; this ad type also includes a custom created landing page that is effectively a mini website. You may create a coupon that provides detailed information about your business, promotional specials with start and stop dates, Google map; plus, you will have access to real time statistics showing the activity of your ads.

* If the Directory Listing is sold by the school (or a club, class or team), the price of the Directory Listing is discounted to $90 with the entire amount remitted to the school.

What are the pricing options for each type of ad?

All prices apply to a year-long ad campaign.

  1. Directory Listing: $180
  2. School Supporter: $300
  3. Community Supporter: $540
  4. Community Leader: $780

How do the schools benefit if Student Central sells the ads rather than the school selling the ads as a fundraising activity?

Schools benefit in the same ways for ads sold by Student Central and for ads sold by the school for fundraising. There are at least three ways schools benefit by participating in the Student Central program

  • Schools are allowed to use all of the features, tools and resources of the Student Central program – features that would otherwise cost several dollars per student per year, thousands of dollars per school per year, and tens of thousands of dollars per district per year. These features were requested, designed and proven by schools to solve some of their day-to-day problems with practical solutions.
  • Many times, schools are able to eliminate inferior programs that require the schools to pay fees, yet receive fewer and harder to use features than those included in the Student Central program.
  • The schools receive a minimum of $90 for a Directory Listing ad and up to 50% of a Community Leader ad for each ad sold to a sponsor requesting a particular school, even if those sponsorships are generated by the Student Central staff.

Are payment options available?

The Community Supporter and Community Leader packages have payment plan options. Each plan allows an upfront payment of 50% of the annual advertising fee, with 10 equal monthly installments for the remaining 50%.

What is the approval process for an ad sold by Student Central?

Once the ad is complete, two Student Central representatives will review the entire ad – read all of the text, inspect the logo, test every link for functionality and destination. After Student Central has approved the ad, the school will be notified that a new ad has been approved and is viewable. Each school may choose to approve ads before they are viewable on that school's pages on StudentCentral.bigteams.com.

How long will my advertisement run?

All advertisements run for a full year from the date they are approved.

Can I specify if I want my ad to only run on the student, parent, or teacher page?

Every School Supporter, Community Supporter and Community Leader ad rotates into view on every page associated with the designated school. The rotation of logos is randomized for both the sequence and location of the logos so that appearance of each logo is equal to that of all other logos designated for each school.

Can I advertise on more than one school? Do you offer bulk discount prices?

  • Businesses have the option to advertise in one school, multiple selected schools, or in every school within a zip code, school district, city, or state. Advertisers have full control to include specific schools.
  • Volume discounts are available when more than one school is designated.

Will the advertisement for my business provide a link to my website from Student Central?

Yes, you have the option to make your business logo a hyperlink to direct Student Central users to your business website, if you choose to be a School Supporter, Community Supporter, or Community Leader. If you do not have a website, you may use the custom landing page included in the Community Leader package as your mini-website.

How many Student Central users will be seeing my advertisement per day?

Students, parents and teachers will be seeing your ad. The frequency depends upon how the school chooses to use the Student Central program and the level of activities that are occurring at the school at any given time. Active users visit StudentCentral.bigteams.com multiple times each week and average visiting more than 8 pages during each visit.

Can I have multiple ad designs displayed on Student Central at one time?

Yes. Multiple ads can be purchased for one business to run during the same time for a school, or different ads may be created for each school that you wish to sponsor.

Can I edit my ad once it begins to appear on Student Central?

Yes. You can edit your logo, link, or other information as many times as you wish while your ad is on StudentCentral.bigteams.com. When edits are made after the initial ad purchase, your ad will be temporarily removed from the site until the changes have been reviewed and approved by the Student Central staff.
